Surveys Are Not Required!

Why Doesn't Grundy Insurance Require a Marine Survey for Classic Boats?

Marine surveys are not required, in most cases, when applying for Grundy's Agreed Value coverage for classic boats.*

As a boat enthusiast himself, Jim Grundy, owner of The Grundy Agency, incorporated a simpler approach to setting the Agreed Value on classic yachts, runabouts and daysailers. With our expertise in classic boats, the underwriters at Grundy can approve coverage by reviewing a description of the condition, maintenance and restoration from the owner, captain or yard owner. Instead of requesting a survey, Grundy simply asks for pictures and what we call a "narrative."

This saves hundreds of dollars, time and inconvenience; in many cases, this also eliminates the need for a special haul-out.

*In some cases where vessels are newly-acquired or owners are relatively inexperienced, a survey may be required.

Howdy, Bill!.. A few months ago, you helped me out when Bethanne was absent. You were very professional...and we haven't forgotten; especially, when we were approached to send our business elsewhere. Bethanne and you ARE Grundy to us.

—Thanks again, Dennis Parrish
